The Gender debate continues...

Childbirth for the post modern western woman is unfortunately for many women the first truly grounding experience she has. It’s a cathartic ride that bounces outside the boundaries she, her family and her gang have carefully maintained. These boundaries also exclude our mortality. Men historically have pushed themselves through their own 'childbirth', taking extreme risks or being recruited to. Including various forms of near death experiences. That too has virtually disappeared in the post modern world of screen watching.

There is a current story about a woman who has just won several track events by a margin, Caster Semenya. When the International Association of Athletics Federations demanded she do a gender test there was international outrage and accusations of racism. The request seemed perfectly reasonable after taking one look at her and the test has subsequently returned that she has 3 times the normal testosterone levels for an 18 year old female. So why was there accusations of racism? Is it because anything that amounts to common sense has no meaning any longer? Are we being constantly railroaded by various ideologues who are trying to hang on to some past shame such as racism or sexism? For some feminists now, is it that anything a woman feels she is entitled to is understood by her to be firtsly denied by men, and that much of men’s activities are honed to be conspiring against her individual freedom? There are plenty of men these days that do not subscribe to sexist imagery and rituals of the past, so why are these particular women so infatuated with creating their own club of gender exclusion. Rather than just moving on from the men and their images of men that are stuck in the past. Perhaps the real answer to this lies more in some women trying to manipulate each other rather than men trying to manipulate and control women.
